All NGO India is a community information platform that helps people discover non-governmental organisations, social-impact resources, news, partnership information, and opportunities to participate. This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect, why we use it, and the choices available to visitors, contributors, organisations, and commenters.
1. Information we may collect
We may receive information that you choose to provide when you contact us, submit or claim an NGO listing, request a correction, submit an article or resource, request support, subscribe to updates, or leave a comment or review. This may include your name, email address, organisation name, role, telephone number, location, website, social-media links, message, documents or links you provide, and any other information you include in your submission.
We may also receive limited technical information such as browser type, device information, approximate location derived from an IP address, pages viewed, referring page, and timestamps. This information is generally used for security, performance, analytics, spam prevention, and improving the platform.
2. How we use information
- To respond to enquiries, requests, corrections, claims, and support messages.
- To review, moderate, and publish eligible submissions or community contributions.
- To maintain and improve the NGO directory, resources, news, and website experience.
- To prevent spam, fraud, abuse, unauthorised access, and harmful content.
- To communicate about a submission or an important change to the platform.
- To comply with applicable law or respond to a lawful request.
We do not represent that every organisation, claim, review, appeal, or impact statement on the platform is independently verified. Public information-status labels and the Editorial/Verification Policy explain what a listing status means.
3. Public information and community contributions
If you submit content for publication, only the information selected for publication will be displayed publicly. Do not submit sensitive personal information, identity documents, financial account details, health information, information about children, or another person’s private information unless you have a lawful and appropriate reason to do so. We may remove, redact, decline, or request changes to material before publication.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
WordPress, security, caching, analytics, embedded media, and form tools may use cookies or similar technologies. Some cookies are necessary for the website to function, remember preferences, protect forms, or keep an authorised session secure. Where optional analytics or third-party technologies are used, their own policies may also apply. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, although disabling essential cookies may affect functionality.
5. Service providers and disclosures
We may use hosting, security, form, email, spam-prevention, analytics, backup, mapping, and other technology providers to operate the website. They should receive only information reasonably necessary for the relevant service, subject to their own terms and privacy practices. We may disclose information where needed to protect users, investigate abuse, enforce our policies, comply with law, or respond to a valid legal process. We do not sell personal information as a business model.
6. Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, for legitimate operational or record-keeping needs, to resolve disputes, and to comply with legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use care when sending information over the internet.
7. Your requests
Subject to applicable law and reasonable verification, you may contact us to ask what personal information associated with your submission we hold, request correction or deletion, withdraw a pending submission, or object to a particular use. Some records may need to be retained for security, legal, accounting, dispute-resolution, or editorial-integrity reasons. We may also need to keep a limited suppression record so that deleted material is not reintroduced.
8. Children and third-party links
The platform is intended for general audiences and is not designed to collect information directly from children. Parents, guardians, and organisations should take appropriate care before submitting information about a child. Links to other websites, organisations, payment services, maps, or social networks are provided for convenience; their privacy practices are controlled by those third parties.
9. Contact
For privacy questions, correction or deletion requests, or concerns about personal information on a listing or community contribution, please use the Contact page. Please include the relevant page URL and enough detail for us to identify the request. We may ask for reasonable verification before acting.
We may update this Policy when the platform, technology, or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with its latest-updated date.
